Everyone is raving about Get Out and the trailer seems like a really bad sketch from snl.
I guarantee it sucks
It just might. But the most recent trailer gave me enough to be curious. And I feel like I should support new ideas right now. So, yeah. I'll probably end up seeing it. But I'm not 100% sold or anything.

Oddly, I'm very excited for this movie. Keanu proved that those guys can at least make a competent feature-length movie, and this one is definitely striving for "film" status, rather than "movie." I think Alison Williams is a great casting choice, and I look forward to seeing her play against type. And I bet there will be more than a couple "uncomfortably funny" situations.

No they're not. Movies are made to put butts in theater seats, and that effects everything from the script, to the casting, to the marketing. Re-shoots, punch ups, all that shit happens when a movie is conceived as a capitalist enterprise, with the art of the product taking a back seat to the commerce.
Films are more overtly made for their creative aspects, and with proper financing and leadership, are able to deliver a more artistically pure version of the creator's intentions. There's way less studio interference with the creation and execution of the project.
I'm not suggesting one is inherently better than the other, but it should be clear for anyone to see that Keanu is a movie, and Get Out is a film.

For the record, this isn't a unique viewpoint or anything. It has sort of fallen out of favor, but it was a distinction that was used often during the indie film boom of the 90s.
