I'm glad he went back to multiple stories per episode, since you can ignore the weaker ones and focus on the stronger stuff. Wasn't too into the horse-riding stuff, but the man room and outerwear stuff was amazing.

This last episode was a real roller coaster. Usually, the people Nathan helps are very sympathetic, or at the very least they're just regular folks trying to get by. The sporting goods store guy: I hated the sporting goods store guy. The whole "looking at the cell phone while pretending to be interested" is the bane of my existence, and I was hoping Nathan would have sabotaged his plan just to get back at the guy. But, alas, the Nathan character is too consistent for that.
The astronaut thing with the kid was unsettling and squirm-worthy, but I thought was he did to the drunk guy at the end was far worse. The stuff going on in the antique shop was akin to what happened in the souvenir shop last year, and while I'm willing to suspend my disbelief--I'm sure they didn't make that guy eat nearly $300--I felt most of the conversation in the car and the stuff with the guy's brother to be pretty exploitative. Then again, maybe if I watched it again I could be convinced that that wasn't being played for laughs, and that it was for some higher purpose. I'm just not sure.
To be fair, though: it's incredible that a TV show like this can elicit such strong reactions. There really isn't anything else on TV that does this for me.

The 'making a friend' bit was the first time I had trouble believing this show. The guy agrees to get a blood test? OK maybe, the cameras and all. He readily forgives Nathan for collecting his urine? OK maybe, the cameras and all. The moment that tipped me into not believing was when the guy said "Let's go do something fun." Just didn't feel right to me, after everything else.
