Loved the first season, but honestly thought the premiere of S2 was so uncomfortable it wasn't even funny. I just wish Nathan was a bit more jovial rather than the most awkward and condescending character conceivable. I dunno, hopefully Ep 2 is better. did like the camera phone bit though...

Something about the last episode didn't sit well with us. Nathan seemed like he was being more manipulative than usual--we hoped there'd be some scene in the end where he gave all the money back to the tourists, but since there wasn't, it came off as feeling kinda "Hmmm..." As in, for the first time in a long while, the illusion of the show was cracked for me: I imagine they did give these people their money back, just off camera. Kinda lame.
But there were some super-awesome moments sprinkled in, like the shopowner's reaction to the Bill Gates impersonator, or the way the actress let him down softly at the end, trying not to hurt his feelings. This show is best when it has a big heart like that (remember when all the hikers looking for a gas rebate became friends?).

Focus group Nathan was really off-putting. Like some sort of bizarre, prime time host frankenstein. The Maid idea might be the best actual idea he has featured on the show. With some tweaking I could really see that working.
that scene when Nathan leaves the souvenir shop, and it's only the owner and the Bill Gates dude looking at each other might have been my favorite moment of television in 2014. so awkward, so perfect.
Just caught the last 2 episodes. Episode 2 was just a bit TOO cringey (but omg, Bill Gates impersonator. When he first came out I thought he was either supposed to be Jerry Springer or David Letterman).
Episode 3 was sublime. He spent so much time getting us on his side and setting up that massive gravestone. Brilliant.
