OK. I keep hearing how great the final season is but slogging through 2 seasons to get there is a pretty big commitment when there is so much good TV to watch.

Is it worth it? Can I just start with season 2?

I haven't read through the thread because of spoilers. Just wanted to say that I started watching this again. The wife and I read the book when it first came out and loved it. We were pumped for the show. Watched the first few eps of S1 but then lost track and never caught up.

We're diving back in. Watched the first 2 eps of S1 last night. This show is amazing. Looking forward to getting back into it and seeing where it goes.

Having distance from the novel is already paying off. I've liked the first 2 eps more on second viewing than I did the first time around -- and I really enjoyed them the first time around.

So, is season 1 the weakest of the three?

For sure.

I was surprised how different it was from the book. Some large, broad stroke similarities, but really a very different animal.

Also, on a side note, this show is CLEARLY Damon Lindelof saying fuck off to LOST critics. This is exactly what he wanted LOST to be but was hamstrung by early aughts network TV. Especially S2, so far. I'm only 2 eps in but it just screams LOST in the best way. I'm in goddamn heaven!

S2 is bananas!

I have three more eps to go and my head is swimming. I wish I'd watched this in real time so that I could have had real time conversations with folks. I think talking about this and reading other's thoughts would be super helpful and enlightening.
