That was a great line. I'm hoping the backyard brawler won't be written off for awhile. He's a good intimidating character.

Have you watched The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad or Deadwood? Yeah, your post is a worry.

Little annoyed at the last one when they rattled off the plot summary, maybe it was too confusing for some viewers since they weren't showing many of the characters being referenced, but I just love the dynamic between Raylan and Boyd. They are written to be appear to be the stereotypical backwoods rednecks on the surface, but reveal a much greater depth and intelligence with each episode.

the show hasn't been bad or anything, but the past 3 weeks have all felt like a lot of set up. the raylan/jody storyline tonight was worthless. all it did was put in perspective exactly how little time has passed since episode 1.

I didn't see last night's episode yet, but i agree with you. They've all been enjoyable. But, aside from the hill people episode, the tension's not really there yet with the bigger storyline.

Last year, they did a great job writing the tension build up with Quarrels, Boyd, and the holler crew. Then, it got a little silly.

Quote:
We flash back to some unseen events at the time of this season’s first episode, which we’re told was just six days ago. (That’s a good reminder of the show’s compressed timeline—this has been a very eventful week in Kentucky.)
If that annoys you, the timeline for the show proper is something like a few months since every season picks up almost right at the end of the previous one.

Nope. They are building plot lines and closing others. It did seen to take a while to get to the main arc though.

Some speculation I read and have to share:
Spoiler: show
Shelby is Drew Thompson. Him talking about living another life and how his wife has been gone for 25 years, "Sure would like to lay eyes on that widow..."

That scene with Arlo at the beginning was amazing, too bad about the ending.

One of my favorite lines of the season:

Spoiler: show
After Raylan shot the 'assassin' and not Boyd, he said "I hope I got that one right".

It's interesting you read into it the choice between shooting the officer or Boyd because I just saw it as a choice between the guy who just threatened his life and the uniform he was wearing.

I saw it like this as well. Great episode. Maybe the most violent one ever?

re: Speculation: I think they have indicating that is the case for a couple of episodes now.

Also, this show is just great. They did ti right by taking the time to build the story over the first few episodes and now we reap the rewards. If only every program would respect it's audience like that.
