Richard Lewis’ passing really bummed me out. As a Curb fan I was aware of his fragile appearance and Parkinson’s. But I first came to know Richard Lewis as a neurotic NY comedian on late night shows thirty some odd years ago. I got his schtick and loved his mannerisms. I was happy to see him get some recognition with Anything But Love, his series with a then still hot Jamie Lee Curtis. The first season is still one of my favorite of tv seasons. The guy made me laugh. As a top shelf comedian, and he was, that’s the best in memorium you can get.

Wow. It’s as if I had written this. I knew who Lewis was well before I had ever heard of Larry David. And it was from those same appearances. He was a wonderfully funny comic and has been one of “my guys” for a very long time. This one has hit me kinda hard.

I was supposed to see him live in NYC for a friend's bachelor party a few years back. I ended up missing out and that sucked then. It really sucks now. What a talent.
Another weird thing... The Brooklyn Jewish Hospital in which Richard Lewis and Larry David were both born is now an apartment building. An apartment building that I live in.
