Last week when I was in NYC I went to Midtown Comics and, for the first time since I was in my early teens, bought some new comic books. I had forgotten how much I loved holding these things in my hands. I wasn't thrilled with the writing in the stuff I bought (a bunch of Batman titles from the "Death of the Family" arc) but damn are they fun to leaf through and look at.

That was a serious question, btw.
No.
They have terrible ads in them that are written in comicbook pane style and it really pisses me off when I go from the real story to the opposite page and start reading the ad. >_<

I still buy used comics from time to time. Most of those nineties Marvel titles are 50 cents where I shop. Those ads in the back are worth that price, for sure. The letters are even better.

I've been really torn lately about comics because i have been spending way too much and haven't been reading lately, so i stopped in to the store today and took green lantern, green arrow and superman off my pull list which currently is adding up to i think 7 books a month with all of the crossover, but i did add that starwars one that was posted on page one, i feel a bit better, but may still drop a title or 2
The Superman books are pretty bad. I love Green Lantern but they are perpetually in a massive crossover between the 4 books and the just added a 5th. It's all or nothing with those. Im still a all. They just added a new creative team to Green Arrow so I'm giving that a try. I think it was with issue 16 or 17. It was pretty good but not a must have. I think the Bat Books will be crossover free for a while. Batman, Batman and Robin, and Batgirl are where it's at for me. The others I can take or leave. I've been a little bored with the other DC books lately. Marvel is kinda hard to narrow down cause there are so many new books.

Were you by any chance reading the incredible hulk where the hulk and banner were separated ? im wondering if it ended with #15, I've only read through #9 but i haven't seen a new one come out in a couple of months so im switching over to indestructible hulk though i missed issue 1. let me know if arrow does get good and ill pick it back up cuz i really like arrow, but it was tough for me to follow along with unless i would read 3 or 4 books at once, if i would read just 1 then i always felt lost. And as far as the batman books, if they do crossovers it doesn't bother me because im reading like 6 of the titles already, batman, batman and robin, nightwing, detective comics, dark knight and batgirl, so i really don't pick up many extras, but going from 1 lantern to 5 during the crossovers sucks
Yep #15 was the finale of Incredible Hulk. I liked that series. Indestructible Hulk replaced it.
Is it at all a continuation or just a totally new story? I need to check the comic shop next time to see if they have #1 if not then ill have to download it

Not really a continuation but Banners new outlook is informed by what happened in the last series.
The premise of the new one is Banner has reconciled that the Hulk will always be part of him and that he can't survive without him(mentally more than physically). Banner figures he's just as smart as Tony Stark and he is jealous that Tony is so well thought of and he's basically a joke. So he teams up with S.H.E.I.L.D. He gets their unlimited resources for his research and inventions and they get to use the Hulk to take down big bads. Personally I find Banner to be a douche in the comics and prefer when the Hulk personality is the one in charge. This one is very Banner-centric. Still worth reading.
