Yeah, they tend to be real masterful comedic events, those monologues....

yeah the majority are terrible, but it's comfort food and really it comes down to delivery. Letterman was the best for adding personality to the shitty pop culture jokes he had to go through

It's not all bad, but signing up for a mainline cable channel interview show is like agreeing to be the new singer for Journey. The format is decided, the crowd is there for comforts sake, and your ability to branch out is tightly controlled by not you.

No, I don't really care, guys. I don't even have cable. I just liked the idea of a show like Colbert Report being out there, and (more importantly) I like being contrary on the Internet.

McParadigm would like you to know that he doesn't care about talk shows.

You know what I don't care most about, in these shows?

It's the lack of Gary Shandling.

And the band leader interactions.

And all guest interview stuff

And "oh my god he left the stage and the camera is following him."

And suits

And Keely hit the lights

I'm gonna miss the Colbert Report. That's a big hole for Comedy Central to fill. There really isn't anything quite like it, the show will be missed.

The best thing on late night TV is the bit when Seth Meyers asks bandleader Fred Armisen about a lie that Fred is telling people.

This may be true, but Fred Armisen is very funny.
