every time this gets bumped, its like an old scab that wont heal getting ripped off my skin. And the healing has to start all over again. Fuck, i still miss this show.

IMHO, if the writers had wanted him to be definitively dead, they just could have had the first cop to find him check his pulse and shake his head no. Super quick, super simple. By not taking that simple step, I can only imagine they wanted there to be some doubt.
