I'm so into everything about the orange trees section it's sickening. This and the two line puzzles are the most satisfying to my mind, so far. The rest of this island can go fuck itself.
It's been two years since I played it so it's tough to remember specifics. I do remember the shade tree puzzles being fantastic and the tree house puzzles being pretty difficult.
I'm just getting started. I don't even think I've found the treehouse yet. There was a brief moment when I was in the colored science project area and came to the second set of puzzles after the tutorial and got stumped. Went off to wash some dishes and do some other things, and the solution to that yellow section dawned on my out of nowhere. Then that mechanic didn't work for the very next puzzle. Maddening. However, the idea of walking away both literally and in the game carried me through the orange trees.

My son and I were playing the PC version when it came out and got to the part with the windmill. That was the first truly environmental puzzle that we found. It broke both of us to think that the entire game - not just the puzzles but the actual island itself - was a puzzle as well.
We should start it up again though I think, all things considered, that we'll stick with the PC.

Thanks for the heads up. This game scares the shit out of me.

I beat Eternal Darkness for the first time today. A very unusual Nintendo game.
A very good one too. I wonder how it holds up.

One of the few games my wife actually wanted to play with me. It had us scribbling things on scratch paper.

Should I play this
Formerly you appeared to me, O Lord, as invisible by every creature because you are a hidden, infinite God. Infinity, however, is incomprehensible by every means of comprehending. Later you appeared to me as visible by all, for a thing exists only as you see it, and it would not actually exists unless it saw you. For your vision confers being, since your vision is your essence. Thus, my God, you are equally invisible and visible.

Sometimes I'll watch a completed speed run of a game, but that's about it.
I like watching speed runs.
I never 'got' the urge of people watching other people play until my son and I found the videos of high-level New Super Mario Bros WiiU that are on the disc. Holy shit.
I've gotten some mileage out of putting on a Twitch channel on my bar tvs lately. I think people like watching dizzying graphics when they're drinking. Rocket League is all sorts of fun on a bar TV.

I think Subnautica is an early contender for GOTY for me - I've tried survival/crafty games in the past but quickly get bored. But there's something about floating through deep, murky water which is at once terrifying and relaxing. Plus, there's a decent sci-fi story that you can complete at your own pace, with a real hands off approach from the devs.

Enjoying monster hunter so far. It has a good feel to it. Doesn't take itself too seriously.
Kingdom Come Deliverance is out tomorrow. It looks like it will either be a epic experience or a incredibly dull time suck of a game that will take up all of your hard-drive space.

Do you need other people to play with to get the best gameplay experience?

Good question. I think monster hunter is more of a multiplayer game. Single player is a bit linear but multiplayer allows you to drop in on a bunch of different quest that other people are on to help them out and you can post quest that you need help on. The experience is more dynamic with more players as well.
