The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.

Don't know if this is a common feature in other MP matchmakers, but it sounds cool to me

Also in the Reddit AMA, Brannvall talked about how DICE wants to keep the Battlefront II multiplayer experience fair and balanced. At the end of the day, your effectiveness will come down to skill, but DICE's matchmaking system aims to put players of similar skill levels together.
Reports that EA has pulled all real money microtransactions from Battlefront 2. Only in game currency earned through gameplay can purchase in game items. A step in the right direction!

This story is fascinating to follow. The industry has been building towards a multiplayer system like this for the past few years. Interesting that this is the game to go too far and get roasted for it. I guess you don't mess with this IP. Wonder how all of this will affect sales.

It's not just mulitplayer games either. Shadow of War is full of micro transactions too. I haven't played it yet but from what I read they aren't required, though evidently there is a section beyond the end of the main story where you are either forced to grind away for dozens of hours to get the 2nd ending, or just buy the orcs you need to get there in a reasonable amount of time.
I'm actually shocked that EA has backpedaled this much and it probably does have a lot to do with the IP. They pushed their luck too far this time it seems. For the first time since this whole shitstorm started brewing a couple weeks ago, i'm actually excited for my copy to arrive in the mail today.

Same. Here's hoping EA continues to listen to fans and change even more things.

It's taken this IP because a star wars game brings in EVERYONE. So you have your casual gamers and hardcore gamers and everyone is yelling instead of one section of the audience.
Loot boxes and microtransactions have been present in gaming for a couple years now. Sometimes you need a game with mass appeal to bring its issue to light.

Yup. The perfect combination of nerds who like to complain about things (and rightly so in this case).
Played a few matches in Battlefront 2. Seems like more Battlefront with more variety in locales. The different classes/vehicles are fun to play around with. I was able to finish each match in the upper half of the leaderboard. Seems like the matchmaking is fair so far.

Yeah, I caved and got it. Dabbled in the multiplayer a little bit. The gameplay was good, I was getting merked but I’ll be alright once I work out my star cards and learn the maps.
