It has a dirty, gritty, earthy aesthetic I think is interesting. Mixed with the gory, brutal combat and hypermasculine characters, it creates a cool atmosphere.

I'm playing the first one now (which I have played most of before). You can really see how this revolutionized shooters. Was this the first game to push using cover instead of rushing in guns blazing?

As far as I can recall it was the first major third person shooter that used cover.

They are truly terrifying. There's another scary thing that is coming. Just wait.

The long-haired silhouette that breaks into my submarine globe thingy is very creepy.

The giant "20" door puzzle was one of the most well executed and satisfying video game sequences I've ever played.

It looks like the shooting mechanics plays like Uncharted so I figure I would love it. Never played XBox though. I thought about getting one a few times but never did.

The shooting is better than Uncharted, but it is missing the verticality.

I think Gears of War, Uncharted, and Mass Effect created the modern third-person shooter.

It really is, and the fact that its function/origin is never explained makes it even more impressive.

I just played Limbo and god do I love these games. They're so chillingly effective.

Sequel to Shadow of Mordor may be released this year too. It's called Shadow of War.

Mass Effect Andromeda sounds massive.

One of the main story planet's you will explore is as large as the whole dragon age inquisition game.

With Horizon and Zelda coming out this week this may be the best single week of releases (non-Holiday season) since Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Red Dead back in 2010.

Correction: the smallest planet.

Man, I played 30 minutes of Arkham Knight and refunded it. I don't need racing BS in my life. Really enjoyed the first two, as well.

Are we getting to a point where games are gonna become TOO big? I feel like it's gonna take me forever to finish Andromeda.

I think it's great as long as the narrative and character progression are interesting all the way through (unlike Fallout 4).

With major releases, yes. Seems like most of them are open world these days.

Luckily, there are several stellar indie releases with shorter run times that pepper the yearly calendar.
