I had a dream where there was a new Ridley Scott Alien movie. Why would I do that to myself?

A Time To Kill.

I love this movie. One of my favorites.

Watched Ocean's Eight. It was OK, and kind of predictable. But it was fun to watch them do what they do. Still prefer Twelve.

Maybe I’m being a ridiculous here but there might not be a better written movie.

Interesting. I actually think it's one of the CB's least effective films. The writing certainly isn't bad but it is odd. The dialogue is great but the actual structure and thematic work is sub-par for them. It's quotable AF, to be sure. But beyond that, it's pretty hollow. The movie is kind of a big mess. I still enjoy it but I'll never understand the die-hard love and cultish dedication that movie has. It's genuinely weird to me. But, hey, if it makes you happy... and all of that.

I've had The Big Lebowski sitting around for ages, can't rven remember when I last watched it - or remember much of the movie to be honest. I should maybe remedy that

I disagree wildly. This movie is every bit as profound as any of the Coens' best work (which it easily ranks among). It's an absurdist, existential farce, which I'd argue is what, like, 90% of their oeuvre is. And the clash between self-serious capitalists and an indifferent outsider really hit home during last night's viewing. It's a hilarious, ridiculous, ballsy, and penetratingly, deceptively intelligent film. Never underestimate the Coens.

Obviously, I disagree, but I know I'm also in the minority. More people agree with you than me, for sure.

The Coens are damn near my favorite film makers. I never have nor will I ever underestimate them. This one is just one of their least. No matter, it's still better than a lot of other people's best.

Right now I think I'd rank them:

Barton Fink
Fargo
The Big Lebowski
The Man Who Wasn't There
A Serious Man
Miller's Crossing
Burn After Reading
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Blood Simple
Hail, Caesar!
The Ladykillers
Intolerable Cruelty
No Country for Old Men
Inside Llewyn Davis
Raising Arizona
The Hudsucker Proxy
True Grit

No Country is way too low on your list, LV.

I have problems with that movie. I like the bones of it, but I think the script (and the characters) do some really dumb things. And the Coens predilection for droll humor is often jarring, and dulls the impact of the film's more ambitious themes, IMO. I tried rewatching it like a month ago and couldn't even get to the half-way mark.

The Chinese remake of Blood Simple (A Woman, a Gun and a Noodle Shop) is fucking awesome.

Are you mostly referring to the Llewelyn character? His poor decision making is what makes it so great. He's not some criminal mastermind -- he's a good ol' boy flung into an extremely dangerous situation.

Great movie!
