- an austistic 12-year-old works for the government and a robot Predator suit hurts some people
WTF, I'm even more confused now.

I realize I probably say this a lot, but I genuinely think it's one of the worst movies I've ever seen

Slice.
Man, what a piece of shit. Basically boring as hell.

A Quiet Place. It was fine; the second half did a much better job keeping my attention. I knew it was a short movie but I didn't like the abrupt ending or the monsters' head design. A few horror "why are they doing that?" moments but you have to go with that sometimes in scary movies. Not that this one was particularly scary.

Watched Beirut. I liked it well enough, but something seemed off with John Hamm

Blackklansman
I really enjoyed it. The ending was a little weird but the final footage drove the point home. Hope this does really well.

After an earlier failed attempt, I finally watched Get Out - it was great!

Chappaquiddick - this was pretty good! Watched some on the flight home from Aus a few weeks ago, and finally had a chance to finish it off

This is the most real film you’ll see this year. It’ll fuckin haunt your mind for months. Well worth looking up.

I have the latter to see...the first time seems like one of those movies joey adores before even see it. And calls them ¨a movie that matters¨

1. Is that the Nick Offerman thing? I heard him do an interview about that. On Fresh Air maybe? He sounded really excited about it, mostly because it was something really different for him. I'd be interested in seeing it.
2. My wife JUST told me about this movie two days ago. I still need to watch the trailer.

The Deer Hunter is a masterpiece (and seeing it in 4K HDR is revelatory), but I would cut three things:
1. The wine spilling on the wedding dress (way too on the nose).
2. The jarring stock footage inserts (totally unnecessary and pulls me right out of the movie’s visual language).
3. “God Bless America” at the end (again, way too on the nose).
Pull those three things out and I’d say it’s pretty much a perfect movie.

Watched Star Trek Beyond and while it's a more lively film than the first two it's also the one that I felt like had the most wasted direction. "oh look, the camera is going a weird spin around the scene again."

It’s the one that feels Closest to the spirit of the original series for me. I really like it.

I was reading that thread earlier, didn't feel like bumping it.
It truly does feel like a TOS show and I liked that part, it just needed a different direction on the camera movement.

1) Yes! I was shocked to see him in the trailer. Music, record store, song writing, a story about adolescence and adulthood? in!
2) Aw huh. Randomly came across it on iTunes store last night and I can't wait to watch it.
