I found the fluid link between history and present in that movie exhilarating. Pure pop art.

What did you think?

I liked it, but I was kinda disappointed by how straightforward it was. I was really hoping Franco was going to make this a passionate manifesto for his art, for his earnestness. But it’s...pretty standard. That said, I laughed constantly and I cried at the end. Zac Efron is fucking awesome in his small role.

Had no idea it was Efron until the end, that was one of my favorite parts of the whole movie.

Since I work in schools and a lot of my friends do as well, I will be saying "so, all your friends are little kids?" for years to come.

Die Hard - always a great way to kick of the Christmas season viewing
Logan Lucky - was pretty good
The Preacher's Wife - typical cheesy Christmas movie

The Autopsy Of Jane Doe.

That was fucking frightening. Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch were so good.

The Sound of Music is on ABC tonight. When I was a kid that movie looked so boring and I had zero interest in watching. Ever. While I Salzburg a few years ago I went on a city tour and there were a lot sites from the film, such as the fountain, or the story, such as the cemetery, that I decided to finally watch the movie.
It's fantastic.
I won't watch again tonight but will dvr it for a viewing sometime over the next couple weeks.

Watching The Sound of Music - one of the most beautifully photographed films ever made - via ABC is sacrilege.

Watched Scrooged for the first time last night. Pretty good movie. Reminded me why Marion Ravenwood is the best.

Side note: I did not know that Joel Murray is Bill's brother. I further did not know that Brian Doyle-Murray is also his brother.

Watched It last night. Overall I enjoyed it - although I didn't like the portrayal of Pennywise as much as I did in the original film

Watching a French movie now, Au Revoir Les Enfants. I always bring some classic movies I haven’t seen with me for Christmas. Interesting start, beautifully made. It was the European movie of the year in 1988, and Louis Malle won the Golden Lion award in Cannes.

There were times during the movie where I felt it was told too straight forward, too simple. Everyday tasks, and everyday meetings. But once the movie was finished I fully understood why. It’s a movie that will stay with me for a very long time.

Au revoir les enfants has always been kinda meh to me. I agree with your comment about it being too straightforward in certain ways, Anders.

Now Elevator to the Gallows - there’s a great Malle movie.

What really stuck with me was that it was a true story from the director’s life, but I won’t spoil the ending.

Now Fellini’s Amarcord.

Amarcord is great. Have you seen any Fellini before?

Yes, I’ve seen La Strada, The Nights Of Cabiria (my favorite), La Dolce Vita, 8 1/2 and Satyricon from before. I thought of you when watching Amarcord, as it doesn’t really have a story, more a mood and a setting. Fantastic filmmaking, vibrant and wonderful, though very varied in entertainment.

I’m definitely way more into late Fellini than early Fellini. I don’t think he came into his own until he ditched traditional narrative and started shooting in color. Though La dolce vita and 8 1/2 deserve all the praise they get.
