I used to feel similarly as dime about Alien but I have recently grown to love it intensely. Scott was in the prime of his career for visuals then. The production design, the cinematography - incredible stuff.
If you enjoy the design from the first Alien, check out the video game Alien: Isolation on youtube. The designers were given full access to a ton of Alien production materials and the game is a really loving homage to that design style. I thought it was really cool when I gave it a look.

Ridley Scott wrote an essay for the introduction to Rinzlers Making of Star Wars book. It mentions him wanting to kill himself then Wanting to go out and try meet the level that the bar just got raised to.
I never knew the opening shot of the ship in Alien is a lift from the opening shot of Star Wars.
I’ll try type out the essay tomorrow for you guys. He’s a fanboi. Be warned.

Equalizer 2. Was the first one a piece of shit too? I feel like this movie purposely set out to waste my time. It meanders along forever with boring, pointless subplots before it gets to the main story, and then it gets worse.
A really stupid movie trying desperately to convince you it's really smart and important.
I abandoned this one in the climax to sneak into the last ten minutes of Skyscraper. Lol. A hall of mirrors scene again?

I didnt find it brutal at all in terms of violence or gore depicted on the screen. The story wasn't even particularly unique. I just couldn't look away for even a moment, to the point where when it was over there was an untouched glass of bourbon in front of me.

I finally watched Black Panther last night. Given the hype and it's box office I had high expectations. It was fine, more evidence I am just not a comic book movie guy. Another movie at least partially filmed in Atlanta, like all the recent Marvel ones.
Ok, I guess. Not really the reinvention of the genre the hype made it out to be.

Took the kids to “Teen Titans Go!”. It’s was not bad, mostly referential humor that the dads in the audience thought was funny.
