My back is causing my a lot of problems, so I'm off work for a week which sucks. But it means I can watch a bunch of stuff. Any recommendations? I have no specific thoughts, just want some good stuff to watch...
I watched 'Wonder' yesterday. Very sappy, but it was enjoyable I guess. For some reason, I enjoy Owen Wilson more than I think is normal.
I'm going to watch American Sniper, because I didn't even realise I had it on blu-ray. Also got The Last Jedi to watch seeing as I got the blu-ray last week. I'm thinking JFK is due another viewing too.
Meh, i mean the cast was great and its always a joy watching Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep. It picked up the second half of the movie but I feel it was a little vacant. Missing something. Somewhat cheesy as well. Maybe that is spielberg touch. I dont know.
Why did JJ hand this over to other writers and directors?
After writing that, i see there were other directors and writers for 10 Cloverfield Lane, which I thought was fantastic.
Yeah its a mess.
At this point i think jj only ties whatever movie they buy with the original cloverfield. They are grabbing another movies and putting them into the universe of the first one. A quiet place was almost a cloverfield sequel for example.

Watch Three Billboards. I started it with the assumption that it was based on a true story so imagine my surprise when shit starts going down and no one's getting arrested for it. The writing is probably the place the movie suffered the most. I mean, there were so many things that happened that would have ended in a completely different way in reality.
The performances from Woody and Frances were great, especially the scene when he sneezes/coughs blood. That was just perfect. I was trying so hard to figure out why I hated the advertising guy - even though he was a nice enough fellow - that I had to look him up. How about that.
I really liked the performance from Sam Rockwell up until he read the note. The problem I had then is that he's such a damn dim-bulb and the note basically Flowers-for-Algernon'd him and that was just ridiculous.
And I totally forgot the part where she hoof'd those two kids for throwing the can at her car. That was great.
