The third one hit me hard. I was just recently separated and we saw with my ex the first two movies...my separation got really ugly. Really fucked up. And that fight in the third one...kinda mirrored whatever happened with her. It was pretty amazing.
The fight is so well written, so real, so human....it moved me.

I haven't seen the second one. I want to see the first one again, too, so I can get a better sense of how they got here. When I saw the first one I hadn't been in a relationship in a long time and really hadn't had any substantial relationships at all. I'm sure I can enjoy these movies so much more now that I've been married for 82 years.
The second one is my favorite one. It's also the most technically impressive -- while there are certainly some edits, it's the most "single moment/tracking shot" of the three, in that it basically follows them for 90 minutes uninterrupted.
I'll definitely have to watch it. I think the titles do the epic trilogy a disservice considering nobody can remember what they are and which is which.

Great movie.
Yes. Very realistic. I teared up. It's amazing how things so specific can be so universal. I think that's the point of these movies.

Hmm...Not trying to pry about your breakup, but my memory is that their fight isn't particularly groundbreaking; rather, it's downright familiar in how they both seem sort of bored by their relationship (that "kissy kissy sucky sucky" line stuck in my memory more than anything).

Thats why i loved it. Thats my point. Felt completely real in terms of a 10 years old relationship with someone.

He is one of my absolutely favorite actors of all time. He is great. Yeah i saw the movie, he was so fucking good.
That's not something I've heard before. I really appreciate him but wouldn't call him one of my favorites.
Did not see the Chet Baker flick, though I would like to watch it at some point; I was intrigued when he spoke about it on a podcast somewhere...
He's great even when the material is junk. There's an earnestness, a curiosity, and and a constant vulnerability to him that are all very compelling. Some of his best roles:
Before trilogy Dead Poets Society Gattaca Training Day Boyhood Before the Devil Knows You're Dead Reality Bites White Fang
Predestination was an abysmal movie, but he was still good in it. And I really need to watch the remake of Assault on Precinct 13, as well as the adaptation of Ten Thousand Saints (the book was awesome).

He was the leading in the first movie.
Ben Affleck?
Yeah, I'm just referring to an interview I heard with Matt Damon where they asked him why Affleck takes roles in so many crappy movies. Damon sort of chuckled and said [paraphrasing] "You know, I think he reads a script, and he gets really excited and assumes the best possible outcome for the project." I've never seen The Purge movies but my gut tells me they suck; Newton Boys is not a good film despite my love for Linklater; and I watched Predestination about a month ago and am still sore that I lost those two hours of my life. But Hawke is always great.
I dont really get the Affleck comparison. Both of them have lots of movies but Ben hasnt been on a lot of classics nor made a movie a classic because of his performance.
