Lets start this thread:

The Mist.
great movie...one of the best from Frank Darabont....most of the walking dead cast is in it...the black and white version is beautiful...a must see.

Watched some rocoms with the Mrs., now moving on to Batman. Rewatching Dark Knight, and after that, Dark Knight Rises (haven't seen it yet).

Friends with Kids, and The Five Year Engagement were the rocoms. The latter was better than the former. 'Friends' had a cool cast, but it wasn't really about any "friends", it was about that guy from Parks & Rec, and the main gal. There are some funny moments, but at the end of the day it kinda sucked. There was also some really odd placed, raunchy dialog. The vibe of what was happening didn't really match, or need the forced raunchiness.

The 5 year, alright, and that Jason Segal guy is pretty cool. It's a little longer than it should of been, and a few scenes are pretty dull. The ending is a little over the top too, but it's still a decent flick If you're into these kind of movies or your significant other wants you to watch it with her or him, it's not horrible.

Blue Velvet
My favorite film by Lynch easily. The only one I have truly enjoyed. I couldn't imagine a more fantastic version of hell than the one the protagonist is pulled into by Denis Hooper.

Really loved how evocative the final scenes were too. The young man just lounging in his lawnchair, as if he is completely normal.

Anyway this was a pretty big film for me.

Blue Velvet is amazing. I adore that film. Not my favorite Lynch, but probably #2. Just remarkable.

Mulholland Drive.

I know a lot of others will disagree. And as far as I'm concerned, you can't really go wrong with David Lynch. But MD really struck a chord with me. I think it's one of the best films I've ever seen.

Likewise. It's my favorite of his. Just a beautiful movie altogether, and a real showcase for Naomi Watts. She plays dark, feverish obsession brilliantly, and the movie's incredibly heartbreaking when you figure out the timeline.

I watched Mulholland Drive when I was in high school and thought it was awful. Though the current me doesn't trust the judgement of high school me.

i dont think i can pick one...there was a moment were Lynch showed me a really different world.
I guess Lost Highway is my favorite, not sure why, but has that sense of mistery and horror that really attracts me.

Its kinda crazy how that stuff works, and not even having a real long time span between viewings, ive seen a decent number of moviews that i really didnt like, only to see them again, maybe in a different setting or in different company and end up loving it.

Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
Friend of my mine who's a big cinephile said it was his favorite film of 2012. I liked it alright, slow start but picked well enough. A great cast (Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Tom Wilkinson) but I wouldn't rank it as high as my friend did.
My high school self would have been bored to tears except for the scene that teases possible bare breasts from a young Indian woman.

Grave of the Fireflies. Great. Really fucking great. Haunting and powerful. Always wanted to see the live-action version, but haven't yet.

Cyrus. I wish John C. Reilly would do more serious roles.

What a punch to the gut work of animation. It just keeps getting more depressing & heavier. If you get through it without getting teary eyed, especially the last quarter, you're a soulless robot.
There's a live action version?

Watched "The Hunger Games". It was pretty faithful to the book, except they gloss over a lot of the political themes (shallow, but present in the book).

Yes, I think there are actually 2 different live-action versions. One from 2005 and one from 2008, both made-for-TV. I just downloaded the 2005 version and may watch it this weekend.

I was so skeptical of this one, little kids killing each other? Horrible. Absolutely loved it!

Plan on watching the Three Colors trilogy (Krzysztof Kieślowski) this weekend, while giving my wife some much needed time to sleep in. All three are great films, but Blue is probably my favorite. I love Juliette Binoche.
