Watched Nightcrawler again last night. It's so well put together. And I had forgotten it was the legend Bill Paxton's last big role. Has to be one of the best movies of the last decade.

Oh yeah, The Big Sick was pretty pedestrian. Rather standard stuff. And this is the most boring Kumail Nanjiani has ever been, which I didn't know was possible. Not sure why people were so excited about this one. Is the bar for the 'romantic comedy' really this low?

I wasnt expecting anything good from it, but i wanted to see it. Fuck, im already feeling this.
The Little Hours is wonderful. I haven't laughed so consistently hard in a long time. There's one stretch of that movie where I was continually laughing for like 5 straight minutes.

Ray Romano has never been better, though. I was surprised how good he was. Though, when 90% of your screen time is opposite Holly Hunter, I shouldn't be so shocked. She's fucking amazing and elevates all around her.

I disagree. A lot of the most forced, phoniest moments were between Kumail and Ray Romano. I think they were just poorly written and Ray didn't have the chops to get them over the finish line. It's not his fault. A case could be made that Holly Hunter was a bright spot, though. She does have the chops to make up for awkward writing.
I saw Tour De Pharmacy yesterday. It was like an 80s crazy comedy. Had some funny scenes, although even for this genre it was too over the top at times. Funny with John Cena and Lance Armstrong.

Ah well. I thought he was fantastic throughout. But I also apparently enjoyed the film overall more than you.

I needed that.
I feel you say this for pretty much every comedy/"indie" flick you see. Am i mistaken?

I have no idea. I don't really think about it that way. I go see a movie I think I'll like and then I report back. Maybe I just like a certain style? Or maybe I'm just good at identifying what I know I'll enjoy based on marketing? I really don't know.
I know that I wasn't crazy about Life After Beth, which is the other film by this director that I've seen. LAB had it's moments but it was ultimately uneven and forgettable. It should have been so much better. The Little Hours was just a joy from beginning to end. And again I laughed really hard during most of the movie. Regardless of whether I like "indie" comedies or not, I know I haven't laughed that consistently in a long time.
