The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
1. She's Gotta Have It 2. Do The Right Thing 3. Summer of Sam 4. 25th Hour 5. Inside Man 6. Miracle at St. Anna 7. BlacKkKlansman 8. Da 5 Bloods
So I still have a lot of stuff to dive into. I've missed a lot. Still, I'd rank him among my all-time favorite filmmakers. Just that body of work above is enough to canonize the man.

I have a strong feeling that I'm going to love Chi-Raq. Loved the trailer. Love Lee's overall aesthetic in general. Love the play it's inspired by. Love theater and theatricality in film. I'm going in with pretty high expectations.

yeah, and you just might love it for all the reasons I disliked it. The theatrical element was too much for me.

Surprised to see Malcolm X this far down. It was long and a little overdone but I thought it was pretty good.

I haven’t seen it for years, but my recollection is that it’s also oddly “straight” for a Spike Lee Joint — none of his usual vibrancy. Maybe my memory is off?

Oh yeah it's really straight. Mostly it's just a pretty good, well-acted biopic.
