I'm watching Inherent Vice and I'm wondering if maybe I'm not high enough for the flick. WTF is going on? I imagine it'll make more sense as we go on but it's such a 'drop you in the middle of a story' flick.
And it doesn't help that I recognize just about every actor from something else so I'm constantly checking iMDB. Like that one Asian chick from Downsizing that sounds like Kristin Chenoweth with a weird Southern USA / Vietnamese accent...and she's talking about eating pussy. Not weird at all.

That movie felt like something where I missed a lot of small cues that I'd see if I either A) watched it again or B) found a reddit thread about it. Or maybe if I read the book? It's in my queue at least.
Now I'm watching It Follows.
Uh. Sure.
Ok, what was that.
Atomic Blonde on now. This looks really good but it's not, it's weird.

Pretty much, yeah. That fight in the stairwell was alright but when they moved to the one room and the one guy and her were just beating on each other was good. Looked real. Though I was less impressed with the whole "big Russian guy you can't kill and he keeps coming back" trope.
It's funny reading all the goofs on Imdb because it says at the very beginning of the movie that it's not our timeline so it helps explain away a lot of the anachronisms. (edit: OK, I read into "this is not that story" a little differently I guess?)
So...it was a...triple cross? She was really American?

I hate being sick. Maybe it's because I keep watching terrible movies?
300: Rise of an Empire is basically an exercise in all flash and no substance and the flash is a small one indeed, like one of the auto flash things you'd put on a camera back in the 80s.

Just watched La La Land for the first time. It was fine, definitely had the feel of Oscar bait but don't see why Emma Stone was considered a shoo in for Best Actress. Some greatly filmed scenes/sequences but stretches of sag, particularly in the middle and felt a little long by time it finished.

Currently showing my wife all the Harry Potter movies (she’s never seen them and I wanted to watch them again). She keeps trying to Google spoilers in advance and I don’t know how to stop her!

A) what spoilers could possibly exist at this point? The movies have been memed to death and even a cursory pop culture person would know most of them.
B) who looks up spoilers to a movie they're watching? Does she not like the movies and feels like this is a good way to get them over with faster?
