I read an article discussing a scene from The Remains of the Day (1993) and it gushes about how amazing Anthony Hopkins is in a particular scene, subtly conveying lots of emotions by doing very little.
Now, I've never seen the film. Is it worth a watch? Is Hopkins great? Is Emma Thompson good in it?
I've heard the movie is stellar. But it is subtle and slow. I haven't seen it myself because I've heard that the film is enhanced greatly by reading the book first.

I want to reiterate just how much I enjoyed Paterson. I've been thinking about it a lot since seeing it a week ago. The ending, and its overall implications, are great fodder for the mind.

I've seen it thrice now. It honestly might be in my top five of all time

Paterson: Jarmusch does his usual thing, this time focusing on a poet. Really pleasant, intimate character portrait; the poetry is solid too. Adam Driver has one of the most evocative faces on the screen today, and he makes great use of it here.
This initial reaction I posted doesn't do the film justice. This film is a fantastic rumination on creativity. Where Paterson's relatively talentless girlfriend seems interested in both the lifestyle of the artist, and the end result of perhaps being famous some day, Paterson himself seems disinterested in either; he simply draws from the world around him to write poetry that makes him happy. Gosh I loved this movie! Can't wait to watch it again.

Are you a Jarmusch fan in general?
Very much so. I think it may have knocked Dead Man out of its long-held spot in the top five, in fact. I love him very much, he's one of my favorite people

It doesn't quite dethrone Ghost Dog as my favorite Jarmusch film, but that could change with subsequent viewings. Did you see the vampire movie with Tilda Swinton, and if so what did you think? It sounds bonkers, I would like to make time for it some night.
