I'm going to watch one of two movies this weekend with my son and I need help picking because both have their ups and downs, but we're only watching one of them:

Billy Madison vs. Happy Gilmore.

A little melodramatic but I really enjoyed it. The "novel" sequence was my favorite and i Love Amy Adams

Is the watch with the wife material? It’s been sitting on my DVR for weeks and I too love AA.

Depends, what is your wife not okay with?

I loved Nocturnal Animals when I saw it in the cinema for the first time. I tried to re-watch it a few weeks ago at home, and when I got to some of the harder parts I thought to myself, "why am I subjecting myself to all this pain?" and turned it off. It's a difficult movie (but great).

No gore or violence against kids.

No gore or violence against kids.

There's some minor.

Spoiler: show
There is a scene on the side of the road where some rubes get a little grabby with the women. None of the violence is straight in your face. A lot implied.

I'd say Nocturnal Animals qualifies as having gore or violence against kids, but I'd agree with strat also.

It's a whole lot of big, loud metaphors that wind up expressing nothing new or insightful. It's also really boring and J-Law's protagonist is so relentlessly dull and unappealing that I never want to see her in another movie.

I still wanna see it. I am not a big fan of Aronofsky but it's been crazy divisive and I'm just very curious

I think it's purported craziness is being overstated a bit. I think it's really only so divisive due to a particular scene of violence near the end.

I've been thinking about it a lot, and I thought it was pretty impressive cinematically. I'm a little dumb, so I had to ask the person I went with to explain the metaphor to me. All that said, a couple walked out of the theatre about seven minutes from the end of the movie, and all I could think was "Yup. That makes sense."
It's worth seeing, but it's not especially meaningful at the end of the day.

It tries to build up to this insane, frenetic finish, but it's so tedious to sit through. The characters aren't characters, they're one note symbols, thus I didn't really care about anything that was going on.

Feels like a good sketch stretched out to two hours.

Nice to see ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer, though.

Finally got around to watching Spiderman Homecoming. It was alright - although there were some things which didn't seem to fit into the universe they were trying to create...

Yes to all points
