"All Of Us Strangers", finally
absolutely devastatingly beautiful, early contender for movie of the year
It's such a great film. I still think about it just about every day since seeing it.
the number of things it understands and empathises with about queerness and queer trauma, I don't know, it was just a real big warm hug, and I cried at multiple points

I cried when I saw the trailer, so I was prepared to be wrecked multiple times during the movie.

And the performances! Holy hell....
I love Mescal and Scott for doing what they did, it's rare that we see such soft and tender love scenes on screen; I don't even know if I've ever seen better

Just finished Miami Vice. Issues with how it looked aside, this was really good. I'm surprised it's not more highly regarded.
did you do the regular or the director's cut?
Director's cut.
Great version.
I loved it. I just need to see The Insider now but it's never on any streaming services and the Blu-ray is hard to get ahold of.
Great movie too. Saw it when it came out at the theatre. It’s a long movie, very talkative; but great.
I also need a rewatch of that one
Outside of the opening boat scene, which looks beautiful, I much prefer the studio cut of Miami Vice. The opening scene drops you right in the middle of that pursuit in the night club, and you can't hear anything; it's jarring. The rest of the studio cut is tighter, faster, and trades some character development and beautiful shots for something that feels faster and edgier.
Also The Insider is right up there with Heat, either one could be considered Mann's masterwork, IMO.
