Excalibur…oof such a mess. The second half at least got a little more interesting, but overall plotting, dialogue etc…rough.
the John Boorman movie? i just produced a podcast bout him, and was surprised on how little i remember that one. I do remember it looks glorious. I need a rewatch.

I had fun. I liked how violent and gory was, and of course Cage is awesome. It needs way more Cage. Awkwafina is truly awful tough and the worst of the movie comes from her.

it feels like they only had a 45 minute skit and not a movie without Awkwafina's part; I don't think she or her plot are terrible but they don't go as hard as plot A

MUBI's movie of the day, at least in the US, is Hyenas, a really great African movie from Djibril Diop Mambéty (of Touki Bouki fame). I saw it myself for the first time a few months ago, and I'd recommend it highly. Very playful movie
The most important reason for watching it as part of my 2016 run, it is that I love Star Trek, and I enjoy the reboot trilogy as a whole. I also don't dislike this movie. I gave it a mid level rating.
Besides that, I have rewatched movies I like less in the past two weeks. I am trying to get a proper experience of the movie year 2016, and that has involved a few lesser movies at the start. Worst was probably Allegiant (my wife had never seen it, and we've seen all the other big YA movies), and Independence Day: Resurgance, which I had only seen in the cinema before. There too I love the original.
Trying to build towards the end though. Now I've only got 35 rewatches left, including my top 30 of the year, most of which I've only watched once before. I've also got 46 movies left that I've never seen before. Really look forward to it, and enjoying this as a project.
«A lighthouse keeper and his wife living off the coast of Western Australia raise a baby they rescue from a drifting rowing boat.»
Remember this as a well made, well acted movie. Not sure the story fully sold me the first time. Maybe a second time will make a differrence. It’s been a few years.
