I've decided it is perhaps best not to take my 13yo nephew to see Maverick. What if he decides that he wants to join the Navy when he gets older?

Then he can be like Tom Cruise.

Last day of my vacation (though I do have the weekend off as well). Started the day by waking up two hours before my family and watching 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days.

if i was using anders' format, i'd end my viewing of 2007 movies with the run of: hot fuzz; no country; there will be blood; eastern promises; assassination of jesse james; michael clayton; zodiac.

Parasite/Hollywood is pretty strong for top-of-list picks. It’s a tough stretch because it’s when the nadir of theatrical foot traffic coincided with the takeover by men in tights.

If we look solely on the 2000-2009 decade according to my personal ratings, both 07 and 08 are better than average with about 15 movies each scoring at least four stars (out of about 120 four stars movies for the entire decade).

Won’t go through entire lists of movies, but 08 has Gran Torino, The Wrestler, Departures, Max Manus, Slumdog Millionaire, Ip Man, Wall-E, Pineapple Express, The Dark Knight, Let The Right One In, In Bruges.

The Wrestler is so fucking good. Maybe the best movie of that decade.

Yeah it's pretty great. Probably my favorite movie by that weirdo director.

That's tough. I love Aronofsky... maybe I'd go:

The Fountain
Black Swan
The Wrestler
Mother!
Requiem for a Dream
Pi

But I love all of those movies. I don't know. It probably depends on which one I've seen most recently, if I'm being honest.

I hated The Fountain, but that's an opinion that's almost 13 years old now.

The Bridge To Terabithia was not great, but not too bad either. Did sort of enjoy it. Surprised it went the way it did. Deeper than expected.
