Saw Hidden Figures and Loving yesterday. Enjoyed both.
Loving is a gorgeously shot film. And Joel Edgerton is lights out good. Real shame that Casey Affleck is nominated and Joel isn't. That's some bullshit. But the film itself is kind of all over the place. As I said, I liked it, but it felt a bit like it couldn't decide on a tone or it wasn't sure what kind of movie it wanted to be. Excellent performances and stunning photography, though.
I thought it would have worked really well in its original incarnation of a stage production, but was lacking a bit as a film
IM not famiilar with the actual stage production and didnt realize that is where it stemmed from until about 30 minutes into the movie where i thought this was obviously a play at some point.
I just loved watching all of them be in their element. The long scenes and the rambling dialogue. Really incredible to watch everyone on that screen deliver a strong performance. Was a pleasure to watch.
