I started and finished Hombre by Elmore Leonard today. It was a perfect vacation read.

Just cracked open Miami Blues by Charles Willeford and their is an introduction by Elmore Leonard. How's that for continuity?

I am almost finished with Miami Blues and then it's either on to A Man Named Doll by Johnathan Ames or another Elmore Leonard book. I really loved Hombre.
Does anyone have any recommendations for my second Elmore Leonard book?
I guess there's also the possibility of more Hoke Mosely as well...

I’ve only read a few Leonard books. La Brava was awesome.
I’ve really been meaning to read Cuba Libre too.

I think I'm in the mood for another Western. Right now I'm leaning towards Valdez is Coming.
I'm also considering starting the Raylon Givens series because the first book is only $2 on Kindle.

Valdez is good but his short westerns are the best things he wrote. For his contemporary novels I like Rum Punch.

The Raylan books arent necessarily a connected series. You sure won’t go wrong by reading them tho.
3:10 to Yuma is pretty boss if you’re still wanting a short western.

I switched gears and am now reading Cockfighter by Willeford

But thank you all for the recommendations. I'll probably get to most of them eventually.
I don't read much when I'm not on vacation and I'm hoping to change that.

Did you read its predecessor, The Switch?

This book is really great. Fascinating, but a little grim.

Finished Cockfighter this evening. It was excellent. I think I'm going to round out the vacation with another Willeford book. I just need to decide which one.

I just did a search and my posts appear to be the first mention of Charles Willeford.
You all need to check him out. Cockfighter and Miami Blues were both excellent.

in bleak moments, days, weeks, or generations, we must grasp what is good. and this thread has reminded me that french theorists have fallen and remain out of fashion
