It's frustratingly - though I guess necessarily - vague in the details about how to turn things around. It has too much of a bias I think, but has lots of interesting bits. Some great stuff on why art changed back and forth through history from abstraction and symbolism to realism.
Interestingly, he mentions The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind a couple of times and seems positive about it (it can be read as a sort of prequel to this book.) But he argues that, rather than the mind being split and coming together, it actually was the opposite. I think The Origin... is the better book, but whatever the case, 1000 BC must have been interesting times!

The only audiobooks I can do for some reason are comedic: Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, George Saunders. Any other genre and I can’t hang.
Do your self a favour and check out Andy Weir's "Project Hail Mary" read by Ray Porter. Perfect example of how an audiobook should be read. Had me interested and engaged from the outset.

I was thinking of reading Cormac McCarthy for the first time. Should I? Where do people recommend starting?
