Haven't felt like reading anything terribly serious lately and in the past few months have polished off the entire Jack Reacher series and Jane Hawk series of books

How's the Jane Hawk?
I've found them to be engaging. They're not at all deep - it is Dean Koontz after all, but yeah - I've enjoyed them. Finished off the last one this morning, now I have to wait till the day after my birthday before I can read the conclusion

About 40% thru the new King novel "The Outsider." King can screw the landing, but this is great. Liking it more than the Mercedes trilogy
Im thinking of buying it in France next week because its coming at the end of the year in Arg.
Started this last night. Good so far, though his ear for dialogue is especially cringey during the interrogation transcripts. Hoping those don't continue throughout.

fuuuuuuck yes. One of the best books of my childhood. Never saw that cover before. Only vaguely remember the plot. Let me know what you think when you're done?

Actually, don't bother: I saw "science fiction detective novel" on Wikipedia and I am in.
I finished the 2nd section of 2666 (probably my least favorite of the 5) so I'm onto this (that is, The Dead Mountaineers' Inn) now. Only read the Introduction last night and I'm excited.

Been reading Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch with my son. It's such a great book. We should be finished with it by the time the series premieres, I think.

There was a line we read last night that made me laugh. Something about going to the river with your girl to spoon and if you were lucky you'd get to fork.
