Joe, you're going to have to read The Secret History to understand this, so get started:

Henry - Mickey
Francis - Joe
Charles - Malloy
Camilla - lenny
Richard - me?
Bunny - dime

Wrong:

Henry - Simple Torture
Francis - Mickey
Charles - Malloy
Camilla - Pizza The Hut
Richard - Joe
Bunny - The Argonaut

Having finished the book, I think Mickey might have the edge here.

I could redo this with different names but Argo as Bunny feels intuitively correct.

Who is Julian though?

I just stared this. Only 35 pages in and I'm in love. This is exactly my kind of book (so far). I can't wait to see where it goes.

I'm about 120 pages into The Little Friend and I'm definitely into it. The two sisters both feel very much like real people and I'm excited to learn more about them and see what they do.
The only element I'm a little put off by is that small segments keep jumping into the perspective of some random side character, and it seems to happen a bit suddenly and haphazardly and it always puts me a bit off balance

I finished the second Hoke Mosely book today and because I got lazy about ordering the next one I have to wait until Wednesday to start it.

Oh well I have a few Elmore Leonard books on my Kindle I can start.

This book is outstanding. Just so visual and evocative and emotional. In this current moment full of post-apocalyptical literature, I don't think I've read anything with this exact bent. It's about humanity (sure) but it's really about legacy and mothers and it just really pressed all my buttons. I highly recommend it.

Multiple times, I read a headline and then turned to this book to escape and was shocked how prescient and exact it was. Anyway, it's at least well written, sparse, and propulsive. Great characters. Thoughtful.

Yeah, I really loved it.

Better Than Food recommended it. It's pretty interesting, but a cumbersome writing style, but that's part of the territory for the German enlightenment.
