So, um, yeah. The MoW episodes were mostly good but the bookend conspiracy ones were a mess, only slightly less messy than the initial reboot. If that's how the series wraps for good, which I kind of hope is the case with Anderson's decision, I'm fine with it now.
If it's not... if they're going to do another season, I really hope they can "George Lucas" Chris Carter. Have him jot down some ideas and then let all the other super talented people on the writing staff take over and turn those ideas into something interesting. Chris should not be allowed to write or direct any more episodes.
let's see, my only doubt is not knowing if Cooglar can do horror
they should make it a continuation though and call it something else, given that Mulder and Scully won't be involved
Or perhaps, ya know, simply write a new show.
The foundation of the entire series was Mulder and Scully's relationship IMO and we saw that rattled enough with Duchovny's time away. The series got its send-off the the revival seasons.

If they can somehow against all odds make a good monster of the week show and they decide to call it X-Files I'll probably watch it. I don't think the alien conspiracy from the original needs to continue and I certainly hope they create new characters to follow and we don't get new versions of Mulder and Scully.
