Nick wiger of the Doughboys podcast is frequently complaining about Heathcliff comics not making sense.

He's right, but it doesn't make them any less funny.

I never knew about this phenomenon. What’s the general consensus on these? Was Heathcliff a more subversive/surreal comic than I’ve given it credit for? Or was the writer just not making any sense?

I think the vast majority of them make sense. PG just has a different sense of humor.
