But I'm right that you're not excited about the new one and about your feelings on geek culture.

"Guys. They are making a movie called
Do They Know It’s Murder in which Bob Geldof will be reimagined as a Hercule Poirot-esque sleuth investigating a death during the recording of his charity single. This is not a drill. "
The Tracking Board sayeth:
The film is set during the recording of the 1984 song “Do They Know It’s Christmas” as songwriter Bob Geldof discovers a dead body and must find out who killed the star without derailing the song.

I really want Annihilation to be good and also I want them to make the sequel. Given this, what would be the best way to watch the film?

I never read the other two books because I thought Annihilation was a good, complete thing on its own. I didn't feel it needed more. Are the other two books worth my time?

I loved them. A lot of people didn't like the second because it introduces you to the people who run Area X and they were really enamored with the characters from the first. Also the story is a slow burn that doesn't have anything big to do with the inside of Area X until nearly the end. But that ending.
The third book is from several points of view which is another big change from the first two books. The plus though is that you're introduced to a lot of characters you've only heard about in the first two books and you see the actual story start to come together. The funny thing is that the ending is only barely an ending.
I would love to compare the series to another book but that would almost be a spoiler. I loved the books so much I got the audio book as well and I have to say that was even better. The performances are by people instead of one person so you get individual voices for the characters. It's so good. I've read the books twice and listened to the audiobooks twice as well.

Goddamnit, I guess I got to read those other books now. Thanks Obama!

I've never done it but I think I can gift the audio book?

See, people probably think that's edgy or weird or gonzo or whatever. But that's just Matt in real life. He came to Studio 54 once to see a show basically the exact same way. Just minus the hover board and with pizza instead of lobster. And boy was he pissed that he couldn't take the pizza to his seat.

Well, I'm never one to turn down a gift.
