Irish actor, breakout was the really great HULU miniseries Normal People. Then two great performances this year in smaller, character-driven films, God's Creatures and Aftersun (the latter perhaps being the best movie of the year and his performance in it probably the most compelling of the year). I really like him. He's also either engaged to or recently broken up from Phoebe Bridgers, I forget the gossip.
Gladiator 2 would definitely be the first big epic Hollywood movie on his resume
Oh wow. Best movie of the year so far. That's huge.

Tár is making Marin Aslop very angry, calling the movie ¨antiwoman¨. Im still surprised people cant really understand this is fiction, specially for a movie like Tár, that doesnt really points out whats good or bad, but kinda show whats happening with this character.

The movie works better because she's a woman. The viewer doesn't already have pre-cut grooves they can drop this story into. If Tar was a man, we would immediately recognize the behavior as horrid and vilify him. He's the villain, we already know that story.
Tar being a woman throws us off, even if it is all essentially the same. But it gives Field and Blanchett and the movie time and space to more fully explore this character, this behavior, and how we the audience feel about it. It allows Tar to be seen as fully human.

Tar as a man is a totally different movie.
