He's mad he's not going to be in the next Jack Reacher.

This is a fair call - in all the books it's mentioned several times over how physically imposing Reacher is

So our guy and three other guys built a small (tiny in fact) boat and rowed all the way from Ireland to Spain. And now there’s a film about it. It’s sweeped up a ton of awards n stuff n is out in cinemas this weekend here. Looks cool.

Not at all. Look at U2. They’re despised here.
They did 5 shows here last week and something like 90% of those attending were from overseas

If they have any sense they’d bow out now. But no sign of that happening.
They’re still capable of being interesting but not greatness.
They’re America’s band though. Sure they’re from here but America made them the big deal they are.

Watch the 34th on Netflix. That is genuinely something to be proud of. I know I am for the small part I played.

I'm gonna push back and say that U2 are far more popular on a per capita basis in places like Spain and Greece than in the US.

Well they can pack out wherever they play and multiple nights so they’re loved globally for sure. Just not here though.

They do. There was always an element of sourness about them but an equal amount of pride too. Then Right as the recession kicked in they moved their business to Holland. So effectively a play for less tax and our country was tanking.

This made headlines and they’re despised ever since. Like really loathed.

Another weird thing. If they’re playing say Berlin tonight, they’re on a plane out of there before 12 that same night. If an act leaves the country before midnight they don’t pay tax on the show. That’s just good business sense but it’s also like, hang on. You guys can afford to pay your part. But they don’t. That’s not their fault that’s just them taking advantage of loopholes.

But it rankles too.

haha i had no idea about all that tax dodging. that's stupid. especially when half the fun of touring is seeing new places.

TO be fair they give massive donations regularly and anonymously to charities here and always anonymously cos no matter how much they give people would be like is that all they gave? They’re I cannot a total no win situation here but it’s of their own making too.

*how much of that is down to our corporate social responsibility laws And tax deductible charitable laws I don’t know. But they do it.
