I think the definition of adapted is very broad. Before Midnight was nominated in the adapted category because it's based on characters from Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. Toy Story 3 was nominated as adapted because it's a sequel. Original really means original

I've only seen Borat, Another Round, and Promising Young Woman. I'm looking forward to both Judas & the Black Messiah and Minari. And I'll eventually get around to watching Mank, Nomadland, Chicago 7, and some others. Is what it is

Anxious to see Minari and I’m sure I’ll enjoy Chicago 7. Sound of Metal floored me, and I’d be shocked if it won BP but I’m very happy to see it get the nom.
