I really hate this attitude that we shouldn’t be alarmed by what Disney represents. It just seems like a symptom of the miguided thinking that art is some trivial thing that we shouldn’t take too seriously.
It matters to me, and I don’t think I should have to apologize for being sincerely concerned by stuff like this. There isn’t a lot of stuff that gives life meaning for me. Art does. Aesthetics do. This stuff matters to me, and I think it’s valid to be upset when a massively powerful corporation tramples all over something I care deeply about.

Be alarmed all you want, but you guys sound ridiculous when you're like ART IS DEAD CULTURE IS DEAD THERE IS NO MORE FREE THOUGHT based on a corporation firing a director from a superhero movie

This isn’t even about the firing. That’s just one more piece of the puzzle.

Yeah I should have said I didn’t. TBH though I think he has a point when a corporation is dictating whether someone’s sense of humor from ten years ago is a fireable offense.
Im terrified by how much control corporations are beginning to hold over the livelihood of citizens. Amazon grows more and more nightmarish to me each day.

Cool to know we can be as alarmed as we want platy. Thank you.
Also, i may sound ridiculous to you, but in the same paragraph you said this is just a studio firing a director from a superhero movie and its not just that at all.

Holy shit, Mike Cernovich was responsible for this? That makes this even more disgusting. Caving in to a piece of garbage like that is really upsetting.

Horrible. It might have something to do with Gunn being very outspoken against Trump.

See we agree on a bunch of things except for your exaggerated claims about THE DEATH OF CULTURE. I agree that the firing is stupid (unless anything further comes to light like the stuff Burt has been hinting at) but art and culture are vast and wide-ranging and much bigger than whatever movies Disney pumps out; declaring them DEAD in light of this thing is hyperbolic and wrong. Disney has a stranglehold on the pop culture landscape right now, and that sucks, and I agree that it is a cause for concern, but fuck, pop culture doesn't represent the totality of art and culture. And thank God for that, dude.

FUCK YOU DISNEY.
It was interesting to see this play out.
Mark Duplass praised Ben Shapiro.
Liberals jumped on Mark Duplass. He apologized.
Ben Shapiro said something about it.
James Gunn attacked Shapiro.
Cernovich and posobiec dug up these tweets to attack Gunn.
I think that's how it went.
It's a brave new world and we're only getting started!
