I know we have a thread for this kind of thing but I'll rank the Malick films I've seen here:

1. Days of Heaven
2. Badlands
3. Tree of Life
4. To The Wonder
5. The Thin Red Line

And there's a steep drop-off after #3.

Oh The Thin Red Line is a masterpiece.

Absolutely. Like Scrosese said, one of the best films of the 90's.

Oh The Thin Red Line is a masterpiece.

One of only a handful of films that I genuinely hate. Ben Chapman's storyline is impactful, though. And his performance is truly lovely.

Norton's been trying to make this movie for like 20 years. I'm so glad he's finally done it. Looks great, though I am curious about the time change. Pretty sure the book is set in 1999.

Yeah, I didn't really care for the book either. The only reason I even picked it up was because I heard Norton was making a movie version. This was way back when. When the movie never materialized, I put the book down. I finally read it a couple of years ago and was way underwhelmed.

It's a hit/miss book. I know a lot of people who swear by it and call it one of the best books they've ever read. When people love it they LOVE it. So, I'd say give it a spin.

Totally agree on Norton. :heartbeat:

Yeah I only read two Lethem books: That one, and The Fortress of Solitude. I really enjoyed the latter, and then was pretty disappointed by MB.
