Ok that was a great finale. I ended up respecting the season but I definitely did not enjoy the ride as much as Season 1. I think i was partly at fault for the lack of enthusiasm. It was difficult for me to wrap my head around the fact that many of the same actors were used for the different roles. I kept expecting it to tie-in to season 1. After seeing the full arc of this season - I have more respect for it. I like what they are doing with the show that is "American Horror Story". In the end - the actors are fantastic and the show is completely fucked up and pretty original.
Season 2 was a let down overall only because season 1 was so fantastic but I really do enjoy how this season concluded.

I can see that. In retrospect season 2 was okay; probably would have liked it more on it's own and it probably went a couple episodes too long. I would have liked to have seen more of James Cromwell's mutants myself. But after a slow start season 1 was so off-the-rails better-than-it-should-have-been fun that it's hard to compare the two.

It seems like swapping in a new plot every season would keep it fresh and give them a chance to put their own spin on the genre classics. Like it would be cool if for the "asylum" season they use a series of different scaled, but otherwise identical sets to give a subtle visual clue to the effects the place is having on the mental states of inmates, but I worry it's just gonna be "crazy old doc and his freaky illegal medical experiments".

I didn't really care for Asylum, but Coven seems off to a good start after 3 episodes. I feel like the characters and stories going on in Coven could be stretched into their own series, not just limited to a season.

I would have said this season been off to a slow start but this past week things started to get a little more interesting. Some great visual work though.

EW ran a quick article about characters from the Asylum season showing up in Freak Show. Apparently the writers claim they'll tie all the seasons together eventually. Interesting.

I love the anthology aspect of this show. They way they use the same actors to play different characters in particular is great. Interested to see how it all ties together.
