I think making him a buffoon in private life could have worked if they also explained why he was so brilliant on the battlefield. Could have been an interesting story to show that contrast. But this is just bad comedy...it all feels so surface level and choppy...no real characters come through.

Agreed. I expected much more of the latter. This movie made him seem boring, which I doubt he was.
Did i hear correctly that the hunger games prequel beat this out in the box office?
My other half says the new hunger games is truly awful. And he’s a huge fan of the books and films.
A lot of people seem to love it. Rated high by the audience on letterboxd, rotten tomatoes and imdb. Big box office success as well.
Good stuff. I never got into it at all. Guess himself is just one of them nerdy purists you hear about:p
I enjoyed the original movies, not seen this one yet. But YA movies often feel a bit fake to me, in a way even something like Lord Of The Rings or Star Wars doesn’t. Like those it’s a fantastical setting, but somehow feels a bit less genuine. If Harry Potter can be considered YA, they did it right though.
