I think it’s way too early to gauge whether or not the streaming release model is a failure, particularly for the industry agnostic behemoths like Apple or Amazon. With their complicated bookkeeping, all that matters from a financial standpoint is stock price and retained earnings. I’d give it a few more years.

Agreed.

Every report from every harried insider who's taken a look at these books has said they're hemorrhaging money with no path to sustainability... except for the future introduction of non-skippable third-party ads. By that point the studios will have re-invented traditional television, but worse!

Yeah it has been surprising to see the pace at which we are returning to the old models of entertainment, but way worse.

Right but are these insiders in the film/tv division or are they with corporate? At the division level I have no doubt they’re hemorrhaging money. At the upper echelons I think probably they’ve still got some patience yet.

I have two major issues with the direct to streaming model:

- The video quality is all over the place and often inconsistent across devices (not TVs)

- They come and go so quickly there is little to no buzz once they fade from the splash pages. At least with the theater model you get two opportunities to market or build hype around a title.

What does this even mean? They’re all the same.

They're all bad, but this one has a weird thing where you hover over some of the tiles and the window expands and pushes the others around in a very clunky way, so you have to scroll really fast before it starts expanding. Very cumbersome.

Almost 100% certain that it’s the theatrical cut.
