i hope the feminism is not too on the nose, but see her involved in this doesnt bode well.

I mean I like her I think she's really funny I'm just thinking it will be really hard for them to resist. They won't go as far as they did with Marcus turning him from a serious character in Raiders to a bumbling idiot in Last Crusade but I'm assuming Indy will need a lot of help and a lot of saving. It just would have went down easier if it was Short Round than someone new.

This is Hollywood we're talking about. Don't hope for things that are not possible.

I saw a particularly horrendous rumor about the story which I was going to dismiss out of hand, but the trailer verified a lot of it. But maybe they got their hands on the trailer a couple days early and made up the rest. We'll see.

Even if true, Iger might come in and chop it up to try to fix it. He's signaled lately that he wants to de-politicize (de-wokify) Disney. We'll see.

His meddling certainly didn't fix Rise of Skywalker though.

What kind of inane pablum is that? What does that even mean?

It’s the Indiana Jones equivalent of “It’s true…all of it.” A line whose only purpose is to wink at the audience, and to assure them that if they buy tickets they will be made to feel like they did when they were 17 and watching this stuff.

This whole trailer looks like shit. Any time it goes big, the aesthetic goes 100% Crystal Skull. The cgi has the same cartoon phoniness. The framing of shots is rank with inorganic green screen decision-making. Not one moment of it looks fun.

Hard to imagine a story that could make me want to watch Harrison Ford at all these days, but especially not wrapped up in a sea of mediocrity like this.

Star Wars is a universe. It makes sense to expand on it, because it is overloaded with untold stories and opportunities. It’s a canvas that outsiders can paint on.

Indiana Jones is just a dude. Just a cool looking dude who punches Nazis. And that dude (unlike the actor) is long past dead, man. Deceased. Gone. Not coming back. Unrevivable.

His “universe” was a fantastical version of WW2 era recent history. Nothing expandable was baked in. There’s no untapped desire out there for new Indiana Jones characters, and there’s no means of continuing this story with anything resembling grace. Let it die. Fucking hell.

They'll beg for death, but even death will not be an escape.

Look at the seething contempt in its eyes. Its mouth mockingly says "hope", but what it's really saying is "despair".

I think this is half-right. I don't see anything as CGI-egregious as the stupid ant ladder that saved Mutt in Crystal Skull. But everything does have that flat, glassy look that caught on around V For Vendetta and has been ruining blockbusters ever since.

I really do need to watch The Green Knight.

Hope only serves to increase your anguish, and thus its joy.

That trailer did nothing for me and the new spin/orchestration of the Indy theme sounded bad (I recognize that's likely just for the trailer). That said, I'll be in the IMAX theater opening night for this. In Mangold I trust.
