People keep calling American Fiction satirical, but I don't think it is, at least from my experience working with Californian tech, publishing and entertainment people. I work with people who unironically snap instead of clap for Christ's sake. That just how they are.

I'm just happy he doesn't have to tolerate all this attention anymore. This has been incredibly taxing on the poor introvert. Very painful to watch his awkward, forced smiles. I bet he chooses smaller roles from now on.

He's just a little old guy out having a good time. I'd be happy for him if he won something but that's not why he makes movies. He'd be exactly as passionate about the artform and championing his favorite works if he was never nominated in his life.
I'm sure he was disappointed for Lily Gladstone, though
