I toyed with a general Survivor thread a few years ago when my wife and I got into it. We watched the tail end of Season 37, then 38+39, then went back on Prime video and watch a bunch of old seasons. We weren't that interested in the winners-only season, but we're all in on Season 41 now.
After the first episode, I'm halfway invested in the new twists and turns and such. I like the accelerated format, I think (26 vs. the old 39 days), I like the prisoner's dilemma, and I think I like the cast well enough (i.e., some people to root for and some to root against). I am glad the Edge of Extinction is gone. Although it hasn't come into play yet, I think the "voting dice" might be one wrinkle too many.
Come on in to this thread guys everyone, let's talk Survivor.

It always baffles me when tribes get rid of the more physical players in the first vote. Now, that tribe not only can’t put a fucking puzzle together, they have no one to lug everything up to the top of the pyramid thing.

Yes, this was bizarre and not how I thought their vote was going to go.
I think it'll be interesting next week to see how Xander handles his extra vote advantage. They only had to read 5 votes before Abraham was voted off, so he could, in theory, lie to the tribe and say he ended up losing his vote. It's tough to tell if he's going to try and ride a "nice guy" persona or actually be a nice guy.
Danny lying to the other guys about not being in the NFL reminded me of when Jeff Kent didn't tell anyone he was a baseball player.

I’m a fan, but I despise that they are allowed to get up and have private conversations at tribal. Utter bullshit.
I saw a reviewer make the same point in an Episode 1 recap. I think that would be preferable, but on the other hand, how do you enforce that rule? Do you penalize someone for getting up? What do you take away, their vote? I think the first time I saw someone get up it was dramatic, but now I feel like it’s overplayed.
The talking during tribal thing is too exciting TV-wise for them to curb it at this point. It can still be electric but it'll get tired at some point and maybe then they'll legislate it out of the game.
I need another episode or two to see how these new things play out. It seems interesting so far. I like the tribal council chats because it turns into a clusterf*ck and easily influenced people can possibly change their votes.

That thread is for Survivor 33 though. You want me to merge that into this one?

I did see that thread when posting this one, but since that was for a particular season, I figured it'd make more sense to have just a catch-all thread.

It's the only other Survivor thread on the board - my OCD demands they be combined. Probably don't need per-season threads based on the low post count.

I'd be down for a merge (teehee) if the title of the original thread was changed to a generic Survivor thread.

They really should have voted the other guy out. He's got too many future advantages
I'm surprised they didn't. Plus Xander should be more wary of giving all of that information out. I guess when you think you trust your "alliance" you'd do that type of thing but it may have been to early to let them know about that new immunity thing and the code words.

I actually thought it was a savvy move to keep Xander around. He's clearly a good player, so keeping him around as a shield is good idea. At least one other tribe knows about his idol now too, so any advantage he has isn't as powerful right now. His extra vote will be helpful down the line too for a potential alliance.
If anything, the mistake was not voting out Tiffany. She's seems a bit erratic and maybe unable to follow all the twists and turns of the game.
