Alright, that's kind of disappointing. "Nick Fury's assistant with no personality or inner life" and "that alien guy who showed up in one other movie" is kind of stretching the definition of "major characters"

actually took over shield for a time in the comics and still plays a part in things now. while not a major force in the movies as far as appearances she still had a vital role as someone that nick trusted

were either major players outside of the few episodes of SI? no but that is through no fault of their own. but in terms of the series yes they were major characters
