The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Could you imagine if these streaming services had to have contracts with computers? "Oh, you can't watch Netflix on a Dell, you need to have a Lenovo. Dell only supports Amazon and Peacock."
Just give permission for all the fucking streaming sticks and dongles and smart TVs and let us watch your god damned shit.

The video quality through the PS4 app is horrendous.
Ps4 is just terrible at streaming in general. My PS4 is connected to the internet by an ethernet cord and it performs significantly worse than my WiFi connected Roku.
When I finally upgrade my console I'll probably go Xbox because of how bad it's been.

Can confirm the PS5 apps so far look and run well.

But TV is so much better now!
In this instance, it's a question of HBO wanting a special deal. Roku uses Most Favored Nations contracts -- everybody gets the same deal. HBO, perhaps understandably, what's a bigger cut of revenues because of the quality of the catalog they'll be bringing.

This is the streaming era equivalent of wrapping your rabbit ears in foil and making your kid stand next to the TV and hold up the one that keeps falling down.
Make it just work or GTFO!

I'm an Android user.
I don't know what that has to do with anything. I don't have Roku. So, I'm a little lost on this entire discussion. I just saw a tweet after reading the thread and thought that might help some folks out.

I thought she was referring to Airplay? Maybe not. It just illustrates how convoluted and frustrating this whole thing is.

An old laptop that's permanently plugged into the television with an HDMI cable is really the best option. You don't have to worry about smart TVs or Rokus or buying new versions of anything. Most everything is accessible through a laptop. Prove me wrong

So I 100% agree with whoever said HBO Max runs like shit on the PS4, because it definitely does. The streaming apps seem to run MUCH better on the PS5 though so I'm really hoping HBO develops/refines the app for PS5, especially now with the news that WB broke today.....
