Question/speculation for anyone who's seen E2

Spoiler: show
What was up with the cop who was hunting in the opening scene? He's got a living boar in his sites, he gets the message to come to work, and he leaves; we then cut to the boar, but it's dead and has flies buzzing around it.

I'm thinking there's more to this guy than meets the eye.

Also I'm not entirely ready yet to commit to there being a supernatural element, based on the Hodges trilogy. And for anyone who's read the book, please don't spoil that for me.

Yeah that boar scene threw me off. I don't know what we're supposed to infer there.

Spoiler: show
Isn't that just the guy who had to come in because Ralph is on admin leave?

Right but why did they show that boar in that condition after he left?

Spoiler: show
I wonder if that guy is some sort of demon, and he just "took" the boar's life through some sort of force? That would be an extremely King thing to happen.

Two episodes in, and (keep in mind, I'm not a book reader, and I only consider this a minor spoiler because it is a Stephen King adaptation after all) I still cannot abide kids who can see monsters while adults can't. Just get it over with and scare the crap out of me with a jump scare, will ya?

Just finished ep2. I feel like simple torture should be all over this series.

Give me a break; my kids don't do midnight feedings anymore, so it's hard to catch up on stuff.

The Outsider: Ok so this week the monster is going to pass messages along to the kid who's the only one that can see it.

Eh. I’m sticking with this for now, but tonight’s turn towards the supernatural is disappointing.

Wasn't it just assumed that a show based on a Stephen King story, about a guy who was in 2 places at once, would have supernatural elements to it? I think this is pretty good so far, although:

Spoiler: show
it's bothering me that Jason Bateman is already dead. Maybe he doesn't stay dead, or this is an alternate timeline??

Yeah i think we'll see him again

And it's been said earlier in the thread, but based on this book's connection to the non-supernatural Bill Hodges trilogy, some (including myself) were assuming this would also be a straight thriller

Yea not as excited after episode 3.

however, we also began watching Castle Rock over the weekend. So, there was some minor "shit, which one are we watching right now" vibes going on.

I think we will let this show play its course and come back to it where we can maybe binge it as we work our way through castle rock (which as of right now is also very excellent)

Clearly this is going to be full on supernatural by the end of the season, based on this most recent episode.

The actor that plays the kid that stole that van is from here in Wilmington and is a good friend of my girlfriend's daughter. I've had conversations with him before so it is pretty much like I'm part of the cast.
