I'm not saying he should be let completely off the hook, but it seems like it happened a long time ago, and wasn't that terrible of a crime, and he seems like a decent person otherwise, and I think a temporary cancellation of a couple years is plenty punishment, and...

he deserves it, especially after this long, unjustified hiatus
People lost interest in his comedy when they found out he was disgusting. Define "unjustified."
Most people didn't lose interest. Media turned it into something stupid. I agree masturbating in front of people is gross, even if they agreed to it. I also think anal sex is disgusting, and sticking your tongue in someone's mouth is weird primal animal behavior, but people shouldn't be shunned for it if it's their thing.

Given his "thing" was masturbating in front of unwilling audiences. I think he should be glad he's not in jail, and I'm not going to waste pity on him b/c people don't care to pay to see him anymore.
Some of us even manage to work around women without subjecting them to our sexual proclivities.

You have the unwilling thing incorrect, as far as I heard it. I thought he asked them and they agreed because he was powerful.
Also, he's plenty popular, and will be just as popular as ever in the near future I bet, as people come to their senses and see no crime was committed and he's still hilarious.

downloading the torrent now. My buddy watched it, said outside of a couple funny moments it was more of the mean-spirited stuff he was doing just before the scandal broke. Don't have high hopes. Also don't feel bad about not paying for this.

I disagree with your friend. (First of all, the really mean-spirited stuff was when he started to come out of hiding after the scandal broke. Idk that his pre-hiatus material was especially mean-spirited). I was really turned off by that leaked set, it's true. It was very mean-spirited and cruel. But I recognize that that is how stand-up is made. Comics start with a rough, crude idea that they crystallize and craft the best version of by working it out in front of audiences. That's why early sets that leak like that should not be judged too harshly. This special feels like he took those crude ideas, developed some into real jokes and abandoned the evil ones with no redemptive value, the ones where it turned out there was no joke in there. This is stand-up comedy. And Louis is still one of the all-time greats at that art form---regardless of whatever you think of the man, however much of his story you think you know.

There's no difference there, friend.
I dunno. Seems like quite a gulf between pulling it out in front of random strangers and having verbal consent. Sure, it's questionable, antisocial behavior, which he admitted regretting. Is it a crime, though? No. There was consent. Most of us have done questionable things. I've peed in public bathroom sinks, behind public dumpsters, I almost really had sex with a stripper in a strip club, stole from WalMart... these are a few regrettable things I have done in my life and I'm pretty sure they pale in comparison to the horrors truly evil people commit all the time. He is not a bad man, just a little pervy with questionable, regrettable past behavior.

yeah, its a pretty cool and funny set. Its not different from the material that got him honest. Its funny everyone thought he was ¨crude and honest¨ and now its mean spirited.
